Community joins Flixie
Until now, Flixie was a mostly individual experience: you logged what you watched, rated it, and tracked your progress on your own. From now on, we're starting to bring other people closer — without turning into a generic social network, but connecting people who genuinely love the same kind of content.
The Community Hub is the first step. Access it through the user menu (on desktop) or the bottom bar (on mobile) and find the Community tab.
What you can do there
Search by nickname
Every user now has a unique nickname, visible on their profile. In the Community Hub, you search directly by nickname — with results appearing as you type.
Connect with other users
Found someone interesting? The connect button shows three states:
- Connect — sends a friend request.
- Requested — you've already asked; clicking again cancels the request.
- Friends — the connection has already been accepted.
Manage received invites
On the same screen, a separate section lists requests waiting for your response. You can accept or decline with a single click, and the list updates automatically.
Privacy and control
- You can only find users by nickname; full names and emails don't appear in the search.
- Nothing is automatic: every connection needs to be accepted by the recipient.
- There's no public feed: for now, the Hub is just for finding and connecting with people.
How to access it
- On desktop: click the avatar in the top right → Community.
- On mobile: tap the people icon in the bottom bar.
- Or go directly to the Community tab.
What's coming next
The Community Hub is just the foundation. In the coming weeks, we want to explore:
- Comparing lists with friends to see who's watching the same title.
- Friend activity to see what the network is watching and rating.
- Social recommendations based on the taste of the people you follow.
If you have an idea for how community should work on Flixie, send it through the Community Roadmap. Many of our recent features came from there — and this one will keep evolving with your help. 🎬
