That recommendation you'd send on WhatsApp, now inside Flixie
Everyone has a friend who needs to watch that one show. Until now, that recommendation floated around in screenshots, messages, and word of mouth. Starting today, it has its own home inside Flixie — and it reaches your friend already in the right format, with cover art, synopsis, and rating.
How it works
On a movie or show's page
If you're connected with someone through the Community Hub, a new "Recommend to a friend" button now appears on any title's page.
When you click it:
- Choose who to send it to (the list only shows people you're connected with).
- Write a short, optional message (like "I think Marta will love this thriller").
- Confirm and send.
Done — the recommendation goes out right away.
On the recipient's home screen
Whoever receives it sees a new section called "Friend Recommendations" right after "Continue Watching." Each recommendation shows:
- The title's cover and name.
- The name of who recommended it.
- Your message, if you wrote one.
- A button to save it to your collection with a single click — straight to the "want to watch" list.
The list loads 10 recommendations at a time, with a button to load more as you reach the end.
A lighter way to share
The idea is simple: turn that "you have to see this" moment into something that doesn't get lost in other conversations. It's saved, it looks great, and it takes the person two clicks away from watching.
How to access it
- You need to be connected with the friend through the Community Hub. If you're not yet, just search their nickname and send an invite.
- Then just open any movie or show and use the "Recommend to a friend" button.
What's next
We're keeping an eye on a few improvements: seeing the recommendations you've already sent, thanking or reacting to a recommendation you received, and discovering which friends are watching the same titles as you. If you'd like to suggest a direction, use the Community Roadmap — that's where this feature came from. 🎬
