Carey Loftin (January 31, 1914 – March 4, 1997) was an American stuntman, stunt coordinator and actor known especially for his precision driving. Born in Blountstown, Florida, he worked as a motorcycle stunt performer before entering films in the late 1930s. His driving work includes Thunder Road, Grand Prix, Bullitt, The French Connection, Vanishing Point and Smokey and the Bandit, and he drove the menacing truck in Steven Spielberg's Duel, in which only his arm and boots are seen. He coordinated stunts on Brian De Palma's Blow Out and kept performing in his later years in films such as Against All Odds and Maximum Overdrive. He was posthumously inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
